Most web browsers have been designed to be popular and in doing so provide

sites, most webmasters leave access open to a user's favorite web browser.
Consequently, enforcing copy protection for web pages becomes a most difficult
task and anyone assuming that it can be done with just code on the page
has absolutely no understanding of what is involved. Browsers are naturally
protected from codes on web pages and servers. They can be made to manipulate
the display of a page's content but not the browsers application nor its
integration with your Windows operating system. The only way to hook into

Flash. It is not shipped with browsers and users need to download and

closes, it is deactivated. While active, the user cannot use Print Screen
or any screen capture software.
Image Encryption & Domain Lock
CopySafe Web encrypted images use Domain Lock to ensure that they can
only be viewed from your website. Your images are encrypted using an algorithm
based on your domain name to ensure that they cannot be displayed from
any other website. The encrypted images stored on the server are safe
from everyone, including your management and employees, and are even safe
from your webmaster and data center staff.
CopySafe Web Insert Method
The method that we refer to as "CopySafe Web Insert" is about adding a
very small encrypted image to a web page to invoke the ability of the
CopySafe Web plugin to protect that web page. Because it is the loading
of that encrypted image that activates the plugin, absolutely any web
page can be copy protected by simply adding the html to display that image.
All it takes is just a few lines of html that can be added to any web
page regardless of the programming language used to create it. CopySafe
Web is compatible with all types of web applications. For example, you
could be using WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or Moodle, each of which is a
PHP or MySql-based applications running on an Apache web server. Or you
could be running Cold Fusion, .Net or SharePoint on a Windows server it
does not matter.
The image that you use for
CopySafe Web Insert can be as small and unobtrusive
as you like. For example, it can only be seen at 20 x 20 pixels or it
can be invisible at 1 x 1 pixels. However, you can always confirm if it
properly loaded and by adding a hyperlink to the image, you can provide
an escape point such as a link to click-to-leave the protected page and
to deactivate the plugin's protection.
Copy Protection For All Types Of Media
By displaying a small
CopySafe Web image on a web page (insert method),
everything on the page will be protected from Print Screen and screen
capture software, up to and including screen recorders. This means that
you can copy protect absolutely any media that can be embedded on a web
page, including Flash movies, PDF documents, animations, Java applets,
3D objects and all types of video including ASF, AVI, MP4 and WMV.
Database Integration For Image Records
CopySafe encrypted images can be displayed using either a Java applet
or the ActiveX object as the viewer. Examples of the codes to use with
some templates are provided with the software. As the images are encrypted
properties, the image converter names them and the file names include
information based on the width and height, since these cannot be obtained
by the usual means. Thus the only information that needs to be recorded
in a database is the file name, from which the width and height in pixels
can be extracted. For example, a typical encrypted image might look like
StarOfLight_0600_0400_C.class where its width is 600 pixels and its height
is 400 pixels. The "C" signifies "CopySafe" whereas an "S" means that
the image was encrypted using the Secure Image converter (a different
encryption program suitable for Mac and Linux computers).
Plugin Installers, Downloads & Free Upgrades
Plugin installers are available for all popular Windows browsers. Plugin
downloads can be provided from your own website or an ArtistScope server.
The installers and download pages are provided with the software so that
you can customize them to match your own site design. To keep abreast
of Internet changes, plugin upgrades and ongoing client support is free
and unlimited. When an upgrade is available, the only change needed on
your web pages is the version number used in the detection script.
Varying The Level Of Protection On Different Pages
Full protection can include limiting the use of task bar, menus and the
keyboard. On some pages you may want to use full protection; while on
other pages such as web forms and mouse interactive objects, you may want
to ensure that the user has full use of mouse and keyboard keys. The default
settings is full protection, so you can enable the following options by
simply changing their parameter in the page's setting file from true to
false:
- CaptureSafe : Disable Printscreen and screen capture software
- MenuSafe : Disable Internet Explorer tool bar menus
- KeySafe : Disable the keyboard
- RemoteSafe : Prevent display to remote/virtual computers
The online demos show examples for each of the above settings. Your web
designer can also nominate to allow/disallow access according to Windows
version, web browser type and version. For example, in a corporate network
you may only want Internet Explorer 9 browsers to access your web pages,
or the latest version of Firefox or Chrome. Or you may want to block all
older versions of Windows. Whatever the choice, it is merely a matter
of changing some values in your settings file (insert.js). The same settings
file can be shared by many pages or you can use a separate settings file
for each page.
Command Line & Server Side Encryption Of Images
The
CopySafe Web software is a Java application that can be operated locally
by command-line or installed on a server and controlled by web pages via
server side DLL for integration with other applications and CMS solutions.
Server-side installation can enable your site members to upload images
and have them encrypted on the fly. They can also be included in your
member database. Available on request to all

on Windows servers. Tested and proven to be supported by IIS on Windows
